40th Birthday Party DJ Music and Entertainment - April 2009
Our event was a 40th birthday party for Terri.
It was so cool. Her dad had a rental company put up two huge tents on his lawn side by side. There was one whole tent for me and the dance floor. What an amazing dad to do this for his daughter. The theme was great, the grim reaper. How funny is that for a 40th birthday party. Terri thought it was pretty cool also.
We had about 60 - 80 people, which was pretty nice. They were a big 80's music crowd. I did something I normally don't do and that is play the big, huge hits while everyone was eating just to get their juices flowing knowing that we'd play some of the same songs latter. I guess that's why I continued to do it was because I was getting all sorts of requests and everyone was really getting into it. So I've got everyone bopping in their chairs and it's time for the magician to do his thing and then bam, it's dance time.
I'm not going to mention the magician's name, but he was terrible, which was really a bummer. People started leaving by the droves. By the time he was done, which was an hour there were about 15 people left. I felt really bad for Terri because I could see how much she wanted to dance with all her friends and how disappointed she was.
So I just cranked the music and we actually got a dance floor going for about an hour. Then most of the people left. The cool thing was some of her neighbors came over and totally got into a latin thing. We did "Hey Baby (Que Paso)" by the Texas Tornados, "Suavemente" by Elvis Crespo and then worked back into some 80's. It was so much fun.
Terri's dad had rented a small smoke machine which made the lights I brought feel like their own, personal club. So the last hour that I played it was just Terri and her three fiends. I played all of their requests until 11:15PM. I love it when people come up to me and say, do you have...trying not to get their hopes up in case I don't have it. Probably 95% of the time I have it if it was semi-popular. I mean, since I DJ from a laptop with a terabyte hard drive that has 40,000-50,000 songs the odds are pretty good that I have your song.
Anyway, we played great music and I was so surprised that her neighbors were tolerant of loud music that late at night. I think Terri had a wonderful time andat the end she mentioned that they plan on having more parties and they will definitely call.
I love being a DJ!

Thank you so much for making our wedding celebration a day to remember. We have been to weddings before were the DJ was not memorable and we have to say YOU were awesome. We have people still calling us today telling us that the wedding was the best they ever been to, and that our DJ was the best they have ever heard at any wedding. You are wonderful at what you do and you were so easy and laidback to work with that with all the other plans that go into a wedding, working with you was a breeze. We know that there was a lot of specific songs that we wanted to be played and we are so appreciative for you finding the unusually ones that we requested.
