Private Parties

I enjoy private parties. They can be quite intimate. Usually, I am asked to play upbeat jazz with a few songs that reflect the reason for the party during the cocktail hour and dinner. After dinner and announcements, for which I provide a wireless microphone it is time to start dancing. I work ahead of time with the party planners/hosts to select a range of music that is geared towards the guests that will be attending the event.

Frequently, if guests are in their 40’s, I would play a range of disco, funk and 80’s Rock, Pop and New Wave. We could also play some older swing and lounge music from such great artists as Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra if desired. Possibly we could even play some hip-hop. I have quite an extensive and user-friendly song request system on my web site making it very easy for the hosts to select music that they wish to be played during the evening. Again, because I work off of a laptop it is also very easy for me to play requests on the spot. We could even have a list of songs that are not to be played.

If guests are in their 50’s, I would not typically play hip-hop but add in some R&B and soul in it’s place. Popular artists like, Aretha Franklin, The Commodores, Wilson Pickett, Isley Brothers, and James Brown are typical crowd pleasers. However, it all depends on what has been arranged ahead of time with the party hosts. Along with favorites from artists like Frank Sinatra, Nate King Cole, and Louis Armstrong, we could add newer renditions of the classic’s by such artists as, Michael Bublé, Harry Connick Jr., Brian Setzer, and Bette Midler. All of this can be discussed ahead of time as we work together to plan your event.

Our daughter Brianna turned 17 and since we hadn’t held a party for her in several years, we thought we’d have a party with her inviting friends and a DJ. Little did we know that our little Brianna’s 17th birthday “soirée” would turn into the party of the year and the talk of the school!! Word travels fast with today’s technology of text messaging and it spread so fast that Bree’s party was “going-off” like a night club with a DJ. Your entire setup – song selection program, amazing lighting and your involvement of playing to the kids favorite songs showed us you really listened to your customer. Webster’s Dictionary can’t provide enough accolades for the tremendous time Bree had, and the lasting memories your program added to Bree’s birthday party.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You went beyond the call of duty by running out and buying the part my son needed to run the video. You worked beautifully with the hula girls and getting the contest and the limbo going. You were very professional, being on time, setting up and taking down. You helped us usher in the New Year fabulously! You did our sons wedding in July and we wanted to hear you again as we were so involved with the wedding night and guests we couldn't really enjoy you as much as we would have wanted.
